I write about sport, particularly football, and especially about how poor governance harms fairness and competitiveness.

My most recent book – available from 22nd January 2024 – is the culmination of four years of research and reporting on the impact of cryptocurrency on football. It’s called ‘No Questions Asked: How football joined the crypto con.’

In 2022, I published ‘Fit and Proper People’, a book out about football club ownership, which I wrote with journalist and lower league football campaigner, James Cave. You can read about (and even buy) ‘Fit and Proper People: The lies and fall of OwnaFC’ here.

Before that, in 2015, I wrote a book about how football had lost its way: The Ugly Game: How football lost its magic and what it could learn from the NFL
